District Governor's Message

Phil & Denise Mewett

The moment has arrived! Three years ago I commenced my training to become District Governor and began what seemed a long journey to this day. However, as they say, the time has just flown. I have already made a number of club visits and can honestly say I have thoroughly enjoyed those experiences. It has only confirmed my belief that our communities have benefitted greatly from the efforts of Rotarians and just how much the world needs us.

July is New Beginnings Month and we start the new year with a new Rotary International President, Dong Kurn Lee, and a new theme, "MAKE DREAMS REAL".

Dong Kurn Lee is chairman of Bubang Co. Ltd. and Bubang Techron Co. Ltd., manufacturing companies in Seoul. A member of the Rotary Club of Seoul Hangang since 1971, D.K. has served RI as Director, Treasurer, District Governor, RI training leader, and zone and regional coordinator for membership development. He also has served as a Rotary Foundation Trustee and regional Rotary Foundation coordinator. He is chair of the Polio Eradication Private Sector Initiative in Korea. D.K. is a recipient of The Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service.

End Polio Now

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation pledge of US $100 million over 3 years is a challenge that we must accept. The world wide eradication of polio is sooo close!

If every Club in this District contributes US $1000 each year for the next 3 years – then we will have met that challenge.
